About the role

This role involves designing, installing, and maintaining passive communication systems such as structured cabling, data centers, fiber optic networks, and more within the building services sector. The ideal candidate will have expertise in passive network infrastructure systems, with a strong background in telecommunications and building services integration.
  
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and oversee the implementation of passive communication infrastructure for building projects, including structured cabling, fiber optics, and other low-voltage systems.
  • Collaborate with architects, project managers, and other engineering disciplines to integrate communication systems into building designs effectively.
  • Conduct site assessments and provide recommendations for the most effective passive communication systems for each project.
  • Develop system specifications, design documentation, and technical reports related to passive communication infrastructure.
  • Supervise and coordinate installation teams, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Conduct testing and commissioning of systems to ensure functionality and performance standards are met.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance for passive communication systems.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
  • Work closely with vendors and contractors to ensure the successful integration of passive communication solutions.
  • Participate in the maintenance and upgrading of existing systems to improve efficiency and service delivery.
Key Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (3+ years) in designing, implementing, and maintaining passive communication infrastructure systems, particularly within the building services industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of structured cabling systems, fiber optic networks, and other passive communication solutions.
  • Strong understanding of building services integration and how communication systems interact with other building technologies.
  • Experience with designing and managing projects that involve large-scale communication infrastructure systems.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, codes, and regulations related to passive communication systems (e.g., AS/CA S009, AS 3000).
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, or other design software for system planning and documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications:
  • Certification or experience with industry standard systems (e.g., Cisco, CompTIA Network+, etc.).
  • Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) for communication systems integration.
  • Experience in the design and management of data centers or large network infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of smart building technologies and IoT integration with communication systems.
